To the World Health Organization
Dear Sir/Madam:
In bringing to your attention the banner of the World Health Day for the year 2023-2024: “My health is my right, and the right of everyone everywhere, to obtain quality health services.”- we express our believe in these rights and draw your attention to the violation of International and local laws committed against the Chairman Abdullah Ocalan since his abduction by an international conspiracy, in Kenya on February 15, 1999, and his placement in a solitary cell on the notorious Imrali Island prison in Türkiye.
We call upon the World Health Organization and all international organizations to address the ongoing and widespread violations and abuses of international human rights law regarding the Chairman Ocalan, and to conduct an independent international investigation into Türkiye’s inhumane treatment of the Chairman Ocalan; including the harsh climatic conditions, which characterize the notorious island of Imrali- due to its location and high humidity environment, which causes great harm to the human respiratory system, and makes the Chairman Abdullah Ocalan particularly vulnerable; also because of his advanced age- to several diseases, like asthma and other lung diseases which can expose his vital organs and his immune system to viruses and germs; in addition to the sicknesses in his eye, skin, and hearing; also due to the lack of health care, physical activity, nutrition and harsh environment.
This situation is a reminder; to all great world organizations involved in Human care and wellbeing, as the World Health Organization, the Red Cross, the Red Crescent, Doctors Sans Frontiers, and others- to stay proactive in preserving the right of everyone everywhere to obtain quality health care, including the Chairman Abdullah Ocalan, and therefore we Kindly urge you to:
1. Send a medical committee to conduct the necessary medical examinations.
2. Call for his release.
Sincerely yours,
The Union of Doctors in North and East Syria.
