Under the slogan: “I want to meet with Abdullah Ocalan”, on May 14, 2025, the global campaign was launched to demand that the Turkish state meet with leader Abdullah Ocalan as soon as possible.
On August 20, 2025, in the name of the Syrian Initiative for the Freedom of Commander Abdullah Ocalan, and the Syrian Lawyers Initiative to Defend Commander Abdullah Ocalan, we declare our solidarity and joining this campaign, and working relentlessly with an elite group of Syrian components, including intellectuals, writers, politicians, human rights activists, tribal notables, and clerics, until the campaign achieves its desired goal.
Meeting with leader and thinker Abdullah Ocalan is of utmost importance, as it represents a fundamental pillar in promoting coexistence and consolidating the values of peace and democracy in our region. Ocalan’s physical freedom is not only a humanitarian and moral requirement, but also a historical necessity in order to find radical solutions to the stifling crises that our region and the world are witnessing, especially in light of the escalation of tensions that are described as features of
Third world war.
Through his intellectual and political system, activist Abdullah Ocalan has proven that he possesses a unique philosophical and humanitarian vision based on freedom, democracy and equality. With his experience, struggle, and perseverance, he is capable of transforming the course of crises from one of violence to one of rights, moral policy, and negotiation, ensuring sustainable peace for peoples.
We affirm our genuine desire to meet with Commander Abdullah Ocalan, and we emphasize that this meeting reflects the will of the elite components of Syria, including academics, human rights activists, politicians, intellectuals, tribal and clan leaders, and religious leaders. It expresses the paramount importance of applying international law and the principle of negotiation as an entry point for resolving the Kurdish issue, which constitutes a fundamental key to resolving many issues and strengthening the path of democracy in the Middle East.
Accordingly, we appeal to world public opinion, and to all international and human rights bodies, to work urgently and seriously to achieve the physical freedom of the philosopher Abdullah Ocalan, in a manner consistent with the values of justice, human dignity and peace.
