Greetings
We, a group of human rights activists, academics, intellectuals, politicians, dignitaries, and religious figures from Syria, whose names are signed at the end of this letter, present to you a formal request to meet with Mr. Abdullah Öcalan, hoping that you will accept this request.
Our request stems from our belief in and solidarity with the ongoing peace initiative between the Turkish government and Mr. Abdullah Öcalan, which aims to consolidate the principles of coexistence, equality, and justice among all components of the Turkish people.
We also emphasize the deep historical ties between the Kurdish and Turkish peoples, which date back more than a thousand years, and their shared role in achieving security and stability, not only in Turkey but throughout the Middle East, despite the setbacks that have plagued this relationship for a century. It is no secret that the historical neighborly relationship between Syria and Turkey, both land and people, has made the destinies of the two countries intertwined, such that achieving peace in Turkey directly impacts the stability and security of Syria as well. The global campaign, which began on May 14, 2025, under the slogan “I want to meet Abdullah Öcalan,” emphasized that meeting with Mr. Abdullah Öcalan is of utmost importance, given his ideas and initiatives aimed at promoting coexistence and consolidating the values of peace and democracy in our region.
