Given the constant concern of self-governments for society, democracy is inherently present in their very nature, as it is impossible to imagine society without its participation.
* While democracy is often conceptualized as a term associated with larger societies such as peoples and nations, self-governments refer to continuous capacities and capabilities that extend from the smallest of clan societies to the broadest of national communities.
