The Leaders’ Sayings

The representatives of truth in Middle Eastern culture, which had become a traditional society vis-à-vis capitalist modernity, were drawn into a situation in which they were unlikely to succeed in the face of the realities of modernity.

A society that moves from a defeated traditional one toward dominance and victory is capable—and only it is—of achieving a successful exit from the crisis, relying on an alternative modernity that transcends the scope of capitalist modernity.

Here, the bureaucratic capitalism became defeated by liberal capitalism. Just as the bureaucratic capitalism was unable to structure itself as a different modernity, it did not even elevate itself to the level of a new capitalist modernity that transcends liberal capitalist modernity.

The democratic modernity’s critique of constructed socialism must be viewed with a healthy eye. This critique does not mean a dogmatic rejection or acceptance of socialism. Rather, it analyzes it as an experience, absorbing from its core the truth of anti-capitalist modernity.

The Democratic modernity is not merely a utopia concerned with the future. Rather, its roots go back thousands of years to cultural traditions. The present reality of this culture is its current society, which is a reality in and of itself, however much it is left to flounder in sterility and despair.
