Jurists refer to the obstacle in front of peace, democracy in Turkey

Demands for the unconditional physical freedom of Leader Abdullah Ocalan continue at all societal levels. Many activists on the Kurdish issue believe that achieving lasting peace in Turkey, and subsequently in the Middle East, lies in achieving the freedom of Leader Abdullah Ocalan, the founder of the democratic nation project.

“Detention” is the structural obstacle to the advancement of a democratic solution in the region

Mahmoud Mustafa Abdul Rahman, a member of the Syrian Initiative for the Freedom of Leader Abdullah Ocalan, said that the call for “peace and a democratic society” launched by Leader Abdullah Ocalan is not merely a slogan or a temporary initiative, but rather a practical embodiment of a comprehensive philosophical vision established by Leader Abdullah Ocalan, based on social justice, freedom, and coexistence among peoples.

He continued by pointing out that what must be emphasized, in an unequivocal manner, is that the Turkish state, as an occupying and denial force, has not yet taken any serious steps toward a genuine political solution. On the contrary, it continues its policies of militarism, isolation, and denial of the other, particularly the continued detention of the leader.

Mahmoud said that it is impossible to talk about a democratic political process without his physical freedom: “Leader Ocalan is the owner of the solution project, and he is the primary reference for establishing a just peace in Turkey and the region.” He considered his continued detention not only a flagrant violation of human rights and international law, but also the most significant structural obstacle to any progress toward democracy and a political solution in the Middle East.

The appeal was the ideal response to attempts at hegemony. Amina Khadro, spokesperson for the Syrian Initiative for the Freedom of Leader Abdullah Ocalan, said that the recent appeal issued by Leader Abdullah Ocalan had a significant impact and received international support, especially after he affirmed his full assumption of historical responsibility in this regard.

During her speech, Amina pointed out that the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK), led by Leader Abdullah Ocalan, since its founding, has always aimed to resolve the Kurdish issue peacefully, but the Turkish state has been stalling and continues to do so.

Amina described Imrali as a source of ideas based on protecting peoples and their future, and said that the appeal for “peace and a democratic society” was the ideal response to the political and intellectual deadlocks that She delved into the Middle East, based on the intervention of dominant states that thrive on sectarian conflicts.

Amina noted that, as a Syrian initiative, they will continue their activities demanding the physical freedom of Leader Abdullah Ocalan until the goal that will guarantee it is achieved.

Leader of the Strategic Change Process

Member of the Syrian Initiative for the Freedom of Leader Abdullah Ocalan, Rojian Hussein, pointed out that Leader Abdullah Ocalan’s call, entitled “Peace and Democratic Society,” has taken the Kurdish issue from one stage to another across the Middle East and will herald the end of the nation-state era.

Rojian drew attention to the fact that the leader has led the process of strategic change in the PKK’s struggle, moving away from surrender and closer to transforming the armed struggle into a societal struggle.

Rojian criticized the Turkish authorities for not taking serious official steps to date, given the PKK’s pivotal achievements and the efforts of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP), which she considered a high responsibility at this sensitive stage.

A member of the Syrian Initiative for the Freedom of Leader Abdullah Ocalan called for the achievement of physical freedom. To the leader without preconditions, as a step that will contribute to bringing lasting peace to the region
