Kurdish cultural presence was also severely affected by the neighboring Islamic uprising. What it faced most was the destructive tendencies of the Islam of the Sultanate and the Caliphate. The Umayyad dynasty consolidated its grip with its authoritarian regime and extended its influence over Kurdish lands within a short period of time through bloody wars of conquest, waged in a manner very similar to the style of Alexander the Great, the conqueror and destroyer. We specifically mention the unjust Hajjaj and his like, the leaders who killed every Kurdish hand that took up the sword and seized all their women and children.
