The Leaders’ Sayings
* Middle Eastern society is not as tolerant of capitalism as Europe and other regions of the world. Indeed, it is far from embracing it. Therefore, its communal roots are deeply rooted. The communal economic component of democratic modernity, fortified by modern science and technology, not only overcomes the disintegrating and destructive effects of capitalism, but also lays the foundation for the restructuring of all social fields.
*As we move toward a communal economy, we must realize with great importance that it is impossible to establish it without practicing and fulfilling the requirements of democratic politics. Furthermore, the ethical dimension cannot be neglected. In short, restructuring the communal economy requires intensive ideological, political, and moral education.
* The communal economy is a system that must be developed in parallel in the city and the village. Even the village-city economy, which must be developed as an alternative to the rural agricultural economy that capitalist modernity has destroyed and to the city economy that it has cancernized, can only be established by focusing exclusively on the communal economy.
* Revolutionary ideologies and policies have rarely addressed the sharing economy. In particular, the constructed socialism that aligned state capitalism with socialism has led to horrific disasters. It has made socialism reckless, as much as it has stripped the communal economy of its essential function.
* The nation-state is not inclined to recognize the sharing economy, given its formation in accordance with capitalist monopolies. Or more precisely, it aspires to extend its influence over it, as does the monopolistic tendency. The nation-state relies on achieving a typical society based on the fragmentation of communal life in the Middle East, because it considers communal life and collective society a stumbling block.
* The communal economy is also a primary unit of the democratic nation. Just as the monopolies of economic control are the primary units of economic exploitation in the nation-state, the economic units of the commune are the primary units of economic life in the democratic nation.
