DEM Party Spokesperson calls for improvement of Öcalan’s conditions and direct talks with him
DEM Party Spokesperson Ayşegül Doğan stated that Abdullah Öcalan’s conditions should be improved and that the commission established in Parliament should meet with him.

The DEM Party Mardin Provincial Organization held a public meeting in the district of Kızıltepe as part of the Peace and Democratic Society Process.
Speaking at the meeting, which began with a moment of silence, DEM Party Spokesperson Ayşegül Doğan drew attention to the importance of the February 27 call made by Kurdish leader Abdullah Öcalan and of the ongoing process seeking a solution to the Kurdish question.
Referring to the suffering experienced since the 1990s, Doğan said, “We fought for an equal life. We wanted to live like any other people. We wanted our identity, language, culture, and values to be recognized like any other people. We made extremely humane demands. If these demands had been met, there would not have been so much suffering. We became refugees in our own land.”
Doğan emphasized that the most important tool for struggle in the new period is democratic politics, stating, “From the very beginning, we have expressed democratic demands. We have demanded the recognition of our right to engage in democratic politics. Today, we demand a democratic society for all peoples. We want everyone to live freely and democratically on our own land. Neither should we be a threat to them nor they to us. This is what is demanded, what is desired. How will we be brothers and sisters? It won’t happen on its own. We no longer want anyone to be superior to anyone else. As long as some are superior, others will always be in bondage.”
Remarking that millions of people recognize Abdullah Öcalan as their leader, Doğan said, “Today we are at a new beginning, we are turning a new page.”
“There are some circles that want to end the process. They may not be too many, but they are looking for a gap. We will not allow this. We must understand that Mr. Öcalan’s call is a strategic call. The PKK’s decision is strategic,” she underlined.
Doğan noted the DEM Party İmralı Delegation will hold a new meeting with Öcalan this week. She emphasized that the commission established in Parliament should also meet with Öcalan and called for the improvement of the conditions of the Kurdish leader
