Three new members appointed to parliamentary commission

Three new members have been appointed to the “Commission for National Solidarity, Fraternity, and Democracy” in the Turkish parliament.

Several political parties in the Turkish parliament have nominated new members for three vacant seats on the “Commission for National Solidarity, Fraternity, and Democracy,” which became vacant following the withdrawal of the IYI party from the body. The names have been submitted to the parliamentary speaker’s office.

The AKP nominated its former deputy parliamentary group leader and MP from Denizli, Cahit Özkan, for the commission, while the CHP proposed MP Umut Akdoğan from Ankara as a new member. The DEM Party named Istanbul MP Celal Fırat as another member.

With the appointment of these new members, the commission is now complete. The commission currently consists of a total of 48 members from various parties. Twenty-one members are from the AKP, ten from the CHP, four from the DEM Party, four from the MHP, and three from the New Path bloc. Further seats are held by members of the HÜDA PAR (1), the New Welfare Party (1), the TIP (1), the EMEP (1), the Democratic Left (1), and the DP (1).

The upcoming meetings of the commission, which is working on a political solution to the Kurdish question and the democratization of Turkey, are expected to put the next steps in the PKK disarmament process and legal regulations to promote social peace on the agenda.
